Biomechanical Analysis

Biomechanical Analysis

Are you being affected by a non-advantageous walking or running pattern? If so, chances are that you are also suffering no small amount of discomfort. The great news is, that many of the effects of such problems can be easily corrected.

Biomechanical analysis systematically studies a persons walking or running pattern when in motion. Taking into account an individual's age size, weight and so on, sports physicians or podiatrists analyse gait by eye or with the help of specialist gait analysis equipment. Practitioners form biomechanical assessment of the muscle groups being affected by a non-advantageous walking or running pattern, shoe or other problem formed by the activity of the muscles and other body biomechanics.

Biomechanical analysis is used to assess, plan and treat individuals with conditions which affect their ability to walk. Biomechanical analysis is also commonly used in sports assessment to help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related problems in people with injuries. As with walking, any sport will exacerbate a joint problem of foot, knee, hip or back. Early intervention is important in preventing long term problems.

Treating problems can range from supplying bespoke orthotics to adults or children, to referrals to specialists. Great for knock-knees, leg length differences, ankle or hip pain, flat feet (fallen arches), those walking with bunions, or foot deformities and a must for any athlete or sports enthusiast, whatever their age.
