Every day, over 30,000 people visit an osteopath.

Over 30,000 people every day visit an osteopath, suffering from a variety of conditions including neck or back pain, joint or muscular pain, sports injuries, recurring headaches and more. Many patients are pregnant mothers, unsettled children, or those with work strain, or pain and stiffness related to advancing years**.  The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends osteopathy for the treatment of persistent lower back pain.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths concern themselves with the science of all problems of the musculo-skeletal system. Using mobilisation, external manipulation of the musculoskeletal system, and other hands-on therapeutic techniques, osteopaths alleviate areas of tension and restricted movement and prevent further damage to bones, muscles and joints. Osteopaths may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Osteopathy provides a pharmaceutical free pathway which can easily complement the treatment of those who are also taking medications. Osteopathy is suitable for treating long term problems or new injuries and is suitable for all ages.

  • As you do not need a referral from your doctor to see an osteopath (unless paying with health insurance), you will typically be able to see an osteopath without delay

  • You are safe in our hands! All our osteopaths have full registration with the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy.

  • Healthy Balance provides osteopaths working within a CQC regulated environment and ensures patient safety, safeguarding, and appropriate data handling as well as proper hygiene standards and clinical governance.

+It may not be possible for our osteopaths to provide manipulation as a treatment for you if you have been diagnosed with certain conditions, for example, osteoporosis. Rest assured though. Because osteopaths are primary healthcare physicians, they are able to assess you for the appropriateness of manipulation prior to treatment, and can also organise further assessment and testing should a complex condition, such as osteoporosis, be a likely diagnosis. Osteopaths who have also studied naturopathy may be able to suggest dietary changes or vitamin and mineral supplementation for this type of disorder instead.
