Simon is a third generation osteopath in his family and has been in full time general osteopathic practice since 1982 although he was reared on the philosophy.
D.O., B.Ac., LL. M
Osteopathy & Acupuncture
Despite being in full-time practice as an osteopath, Simon started to study acupuncture in 1984 and graduated in 1987. Simon has taught both subjects at undergraduate and post graduate level in the UK and abroad and is fascinated by the integration of both systems of healthcare which he finds complement each other wonderfully and Simon is contemplating further research in this specialised area.
Increasingly Simon has found his experience highly sought after in both lecturing (presenting at industry conferences), and also as an expert witness from a clinician’s perspective and so he decided to study the law in more depth. He completed a masters degree in Medical Law in 2008 at Cardiff University Law School and the title of his dissertation was ‘Legal Aspects of Osteopathic Practice’. A greater understanding of the legal process has helped him develop his medico-legal practice which has meant that he has reduced his clinical hours accordingly; although he does still enjoy clinical practice.
Simon regularly acts as an expert witness in personal injury, negligence/malpractice and professional conduct cases in the Courts and before the Professional Conduct Committee of GOsC and in 2014 he completed an Expert Witness Certificate through Cardiff University.
Simon is also a fully qualified pilates teacher having witnessed how beneficial this system of exercise is. Although he no longer teaches it, he does integrate pilates exercises within his treatments.
Simon has worked in Amersham and London his whole career both as a single practitioner and also in group practice and values being able to inter-refer and discuss cases with colleagues. Simon is married and has one son and when he’s not working he enjoys spending time on his boat.
